Classic Mary Berry episode 2 2018

In Classic Mary Berry episode 2 2018, Mary is at her best as she returns to school to celebrate her light, easy and delicious cooking. From a simple version of the classic kedgeree and some delightful breakfast drop scones, to a moreish chicken, avocado and bacon salad and deliciously easy beef burgers.

Mary takes her inspiration from a visit to a ground-breaking school in London that has built a secret garden where students are taught how to grow vegetables. It doesn't stop there as Mary joins two enthusiastic and skilful year 5 pupils in the teaching kitchen to make something deliciously fresh for their school lunch.

There’s something special about a burger that’s full of flavour and cooked quickly – overcooked and they become tough and chewy. The slaw is perfect to go alongside or to serve separately as a salad.

This yoghurt and tarragon dressing takes chicken, bacon and avocado to another level.

Drop scones

Also known as Scotch pancakes, these were classically made on a solid metal griddle on an open fire. Now it is more practical to use a large non-stick fry pan or if you have an Aga.
